myGovID has changed to myID
On 13 November 2024, the myGovID app, which you use to authenticate your identity and access government services like Online Services for Business and the ABRS, was rebranded to myID. This change is part of an effort to eliminate confusion between the myGovID app and the myGov service.
Why the Change?
The transition from myGovID to myID is designed to simplify the user experience and make it easier to distinguish between the two services. The myID name better reflects the app's role as your digital identity solution for accessing a range of government services.
What You Need to Know
- No Action Needed: Your existing myGovID details have carried over to myID, and you'll have the same access to services. You don't need to create a new account or update your details.
- Login Experience: You may notice both "myID" and "myGovID" names in the app during the transition, but this won’t affect your access or security.
Stay Vigilant Against Scams
Be cautious of fraudulent websites, apps, or phishing attempts. Scammers may try to impersonate myGovID or myID. Remember:
- You do not need to set up a new account or reconfirm your details.
- Only download the myID app from official app stores (Google Play or the App Store).
- Be wary of unsolicited messages with suspicious links or attachments.
