The Challenge
Registered charities face annual reporting requirements that vary by size and tier. Missing deadlines or submitting incorrect information puts your registration at risk.
Government and philanthropic funders require detailed acquittal reports. Disorganised financials can jeopardise future funding relationships before the work is even reviewed.
Boards need accurate, timely financial information to fulfil their governance obligations. Poor reporting leaves directors exposed and stakeholders uninformed.
What We Cover
Specialist accounting, assurance and advisory for charities, associations, community organisations, and NFP service providers.
WHY KIDMANS PARTNERS
Your audit, accounting, and advisory team work together. Board reports, compliance filings, and grant acquittals are all coordinated from one place.
Reporting thresholds, and changes to compliance requirements.
We understand the accounting standards, tax concessions, and governance structures unique to the not-for-profit sector. This isn't a service we've adapted from our commercial practice.
We alert you to reporting deadlines and regulatory changes before they become issues for your board or your funders.
We help you assess your own governance, financial controls, and compliance position before a formal audit or regulatory review identifies the gaps.
For member-based and mutual organisations, we advise on how the principle of mutuality affects income assessment and ensure your structuring and reporting is applied correctly.

We've been clients of Kidmans for many years, most recently working with Pravneel and his team. Kidmans has helped us tremendously from both a business and personal accounting and tax perspective. I have particularly valued and appreciated the time Prav has taken to understand our business and circumstances, to enable him to provide really good, targeted advice. I would highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

Exceptional Service and Outcome. From the very start of preparing a budget to best strategies to secure a home Prashneel of Kidmans Partners was with us. He was really on our side and assisted in the many details of obtaining a mortgage. I recommend him very highly. Daniel SuleimanPosted on Google![]()

My wife and I were considering refinancing our home loan for a while given the uncertain nature of the interest rate forecast in the upcoming months. When we approached Prashneel, our goal was to find a package that is better than our current one, and not only did Prashneel managed to do that but he also superseded all our expectations. He has a broad knowledge of the field and the professional advice offered to us through out the process eliminated any doubt that we had initially about this move. In summary, we would recommend his services to anyone without any hesitation.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ACNC categorises registered charities as small, medium or large based on annual revenue. Small charities, with revenue under $500,000, generally submit an Annual Information Statement without a financial report. Medium charities, with revenue of $500,000 to less than $3 million, generally submit a reviewed or audited annual financial report. Large charities, with revenue of $3 million or more, generally submit an audited annual financial report. We prepare financial statements and Annual Information Statements for charities of all sizes, helping you meet the reporting requirements that apply to your organisation.
Once your charity’s revenue exceeds the Tier 3 threshold, your financial statements must be independently audited by a registered company auditor. The audit involves examination of your financial records, testing of transactions, and assessment of your internal controls. We conduct ACNC audits for registered charities and provide a management letter with any recommendations following the engagement.
The Principle of Mutuality applies to member-based organisations such as clubs, associations, and mutuals. Under this principle, income derived from transactions between the organisation and its own members is generally not assessable for income tax purposes. The principle has specific application rules and does not apply to all types of income. We advise member-based organisations on how the principle applies to their activities and how to structure their affairs accordingly.
Grant acquittal requirements vary by funder. Most government grants require a formal acquittal report at the end of the grant period, showing how funds were spent against the approved budget and confirming that grant conditions were met. Philanthropic funders often have their own reporting templates. We prepare acquittal reports to the standard required by each funder and ensure your financial records are maintained in a way that makes acquittal straightforward.
Yes, in many cases. Registered charities and certain other not-for-profit organisations are eligible for FBT exemptions or rebates that allow them to provide additional benefits to employees, such as salary packaging, at a lower tax cost than commercial employers. The type and extent of the concession depends on your organisation’s classification under the FBT legislation. We advise on FBT structuring for not-for-profit organisations and ensure you are maximising the benefit available to your staff.
