The Challenge
Assistance to manage, calculate and report on work-in-progress in the manufacturing and engineering space to enable accurate revenue recognition and matching of revenues to costs.
Incorrect COGS analysis and overhead allocation mean you're pricing products without knowing your true margin. That compounds quickly in a high-volume business.
New machinery is expensive. The wrong finance structure can lock up working capital and restrict your ability to grow. The right structure frees it up.
Identify R&D opportunities and refer to R&D specialists. Many manufacturers spend on eligible R&D without realising it qualifies for the tax offset. Leaving that cash in the ATO's hands is a costly mistake.

We've been clients of Kidmans for many years, most recently working with Pravneel and his team. Kidmans has helped us tremendously from both a business and personal accounting and tax perspective. I have particularly valued and appreciated the time Prav has taken to understand our business and circumstances, to enable him to provide really good, targeted advice. I would highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

Exceptional Service and Outcome. From the very start of preparing a budget to best strategies to secure a home Prashneel of Kidmans Partners was with us. He was really on our side and assisted in the many details of obtaining a mortgage. I recommend him very highly. Daniel SuleimanPosted on Google![]()

My wife and I were considering refinancing our home loan for a while given the uncertain nature of the interest rate forecast in the upcoming months. When we approached Prashneel, our goal was to find a package that is better than our current one, and not only did Prashneel managed to do that but he also superseded all our expectations. He has a broad knowledge of the field and the professional advice offered to us through out the process eliminated any doubt that we had initially about this move. In summary, we would recommend his services to anyone without any hesitation.

Frequently Asked Questions
The R&D Tax Incentive applies to experimental activities conducted for the purpose of generating new knowledge, where the outcome cannot be determined in advance. This includes product development, process improvement, and software development where a genuine experiment is involved. Activities that are simply applying existing knowledge or techniques generally do not qualify. We assess your development activities against the eligibility criteria and prepare your AusIndustry registration and ATO claim.
Eligible companies can claim a tax offset on their eligible R&D expenditure, which can result in a reduction in tax payable or, in some cases, a cash refund. The rate and amount depend on your company’s turnover, tax position, and level of eligible expenditure. We calculate your entitlement and manage the registration and claim process.
Inventory accounting tracks the value of stock on hand, including raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods. COGS (cost of goods sold) analysis breaks down the actual cost of producing each unit, including direct materials, labour, and allocated overhead. Without accurate COGS analysis, you may be pricing products incorrectly or failing to identify which product lines are actually profitable. We set up inventory accounting systems and produce COGS reporting tailored to your production environment.
The tax treatment depends on the cost of the asset, your turnover, and the depreciation method that applies. Temporary full expensing provisions have applied in recent years, allowing an immediate deduction for eligible assets, though these rules change and have specific eligibility conditions. We advise on the tax implications of equipment purchases before you commit, and structure the acquisition to maximise your deduction.
The EMDG is a government grant that reimburses a portion of eligible export promotion expenses for businesses looking to develop overseas markets. Eligible expenses include overseas marketing activities, trade show attendance, and promotional material. The grant is administered by Austrade, and applications are lodged annually. We assess your eligibility, identify claimable expenses, and prepare your EMDG application.
